The 13 employees in Chrysler scandal are terminated

A whistleblower news report embroiled Chrysler in a scandal over the activities of plant workers. A number of Chrysler plant staff were caught consuming and using illegal drugs during their lunch break close to the plant. The actions were revealed when a news station in Detroit was tipped off and investigated the activities in question. Chrysler immediately jumped on the story, and resolved to bring a summary about swiftly. Chrysler acted quickly. Not long right after the report aired, the people in question were all put on suspension. Of those involved, 2 are still suspended and 13 are fired.

Not exactly OSHA approved

An anonymous tip was given to WJBK Fox 2, a Fox affiliate in Detroit, as outlined by USA Today. It concerned workers from the Jefferson North Chrysler plant. The plant only handles one car. It is where the 2011 Jeep Grand Cherokees are assembled. The station was tipped off that workers from the plant would go to a local park to drink beer and smoke what appeared to be pot. The news crew filmed them repeating the ritual for five consecutive days, until finally the anchor on location asked them as to what they were doing. The party broke up. The news crew followed them back to the plant. To make matters worse, the investigative report comes days after a visit and stump speech by President Obama.

13 fired in this instance>

Chrysler Motors couldn’t fire everyone at first, so 15 were put on suspension. This is due to agreements made with the United Auto Workers union. Nobody can be fired without following correct procedure. Of those 15, according to Automotive News, 13 were dismissed and 2 are nevertheless on suspension. Quality control and build inspection is done by automation, so the quality of the cars is not affected as outlined by Chrysler. The UAW also weighed in, saying that the workers that were terminated are a horrible exception. The UAW insists that their people are the top within the field, aside from the rotten apples.

Do not drink on the job

The “Three Martini Lunch” went the way of the Dodo. An industrial site has to be absolutely safe at all times. Somebody could are killed as a result of that behavior, so make good and sure not to drink before working.
